Why You Should Study The Oedipus Essay Topic

Why You Should Study The Oedipus Essay TopicIt is in the middle of this piece, but the Oedipus essay topic dilemma really comes into play when we take into account Fate vs. Free Will. This is a major topic that many a professor has faced during his or her entire academic career. And we all know that it has been part of this great Greek tragedy that Plato wrote. The dilemma is that the standard version of Oedipus and his story has some major inconsistencies which have led to some debates about its meaning and true value. One question that pops up when discussing the Oedipus myth is whether the real father of the protagonist of the story, the evil King Oedipus was free will, or Fate. In other words, was he worthy of an orgasm, or could he have done anything to avoid the terrible fate? If he could have avoided it, why did he choose to go through with the mother of his wife's incestuous child? The idea that some people are born free will others to do wrong is, of course, an old one. But th e way in which Plato presented the plot of the story used by Sophocles, the great Greek playwright, to represent the dilemma of free will vs. fate is of paramount importance. Thus, one of the major purposes of the Oedipus essay topic is to provide the student with a reliable and reasonable argument in which to face his or her professor or teacher. The debate over the fate vs. free will issue boils down to the nature of free will, if it exists, and if it does, how much is controlled by the conscious and/or subconscious wishes of the individual. Many of us would love to think that we are born with complete control over our own life and destiny. We would like to believe that it was God or the Divine will that guided us through each and every step of the way.And yet, the fact remains that we do not live in a world that is ruled by freewill. There are people who choose to commit suicide because they feel as though they are worthless to themselves and to others. There are individuals who, if given the opportunity, would kill their own children and/or unborn grandchildren in a matter of seconds. The list goes on.Unfortunately, it is the people who choose to disregard their responsibility to exercise freewill that take the brunt of society's criticism. Even religious zealots, who are quick to condemn any action that comes in conflict with the teachings of their religion, have to admit that freewill and the situation in which freewill exists is a difficult thing to live with. The good news is that freewill can be exercised. That is, when a person is truly ready to do so.When it comes to fate and freewill, there is no middle ground. If you do not believe in God or the Divine Will, then it is your responsibility to do what you can to do what is right. If you do believe in the Divine will and the existence of God or the Soul, then it is your responsibility to do what you can to make your life in line with your own desires. That may sound strange, but that is the reality of the debate between those who believe in fate vs. freewill. It is a reality, and there is no middle ground. Those who wish to turn back the clock to the bad old days and deny the existence of free will are those who are truly seeking to deny the reality of life and reality itself.
